Horror movies

It was decided on the drive home from shopping today that we would be watching Jaws tonight. I abstained from voting on the matter but my vote didn't matter as it was.

I was scrolling adjacent as the movie played. I am not one for gore or violence or anything jump-scary, so luckily the movie is now so well known in modern folklore that I could anticipate.

In my wander around the playground that is the internet I discovered:

No sharks (mechanical or otherwise) were harmed in the creation of this blog post.

Apologies to Abraham - if you aren't AI then please take it as a compliment that it was so close! Don't say stupid

This transgender committing mass shootings matter came from left field for me. Clearly it is untrue, and just another distraction

We have a corpse flower in our local gardens that flowers every so often, and causes great excitement. I think there is one in Brisbane too.

I loved the Jaws film. There was extra titallation for the teenage me in the book. I can't image the subsequent versions were much chop.

The Insta link is great. I love the Aussie slant by a commenter.

I don't remember if I saw Jaws, but I wouldn't watch it [again?].

The transgender thing was soooo much talked about as if it was only trans people who were doing mass shooting. These are just people trying to prove their own point/agenda.

I only ever saw the original Jaws. Not much of a horror fan but have seen a few classics. No desire to see it again or any sequels--lol! I would have been doing something else, like you. :)

I don't know if it is true or untrue - the gun is definitely a common denominator

So true - I did that research after a new acquaintance (through extended family) shared a stupid pro-gun post. It also gave me the calling people stupid link for Instagram!

I remember seeing bits as it was at the other screen of the drive-in when I was a kid and we were watching Freaky Friday

I think of Jaws as more of an action/adventure movie than a horror flick. I've always loved it and we quote several of the lines from it around our house regularly.
I find corpse flowers fascinating and if you'd just said "USS Indianapolis", I could have immediately told you it's the shipwreck where the survivors had to fight off tiger sharks! Interestingly enough, I listened to Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea yesterday which also contains sharks.

One of my daughter's favourite books when she was younger was Moby Dick (speaking of old men in boats). I have never watched Jaws in full before but definitely know some of the catchphrases

I saw Jaws years ago and had the book too, though I no longer have the book, I think it fell apart from reading. The movie didn't scare me, but I did take notice if the shark spotters on beaches gave warnings every summer after that.

We actually had a girl attacked at our local beach last year. I have never read the book.

I saw the original Jaws series.

I actually read a news piece that referred to the shooting as "the latest in trans terror attacks." Our media is being used by some very nefarious minds.

All 4?

So true

No Jaws beats the first Jaws. (I once had the privilege of meeting an Indianapolis survivor. The stories he told.)
