Movie title required.
I saw it in the eighties, but it could have been made in the seventies (because our boarding school liked to give us the latest releases - NOT).
It was about a boy who had autism or something.
He was given some miracle drug or therapy or something and "came to".
The name of the movie may be a boys name - I remember the title had it drawn in crayons.
Anyone? Its driving me nuts.

Not The Boy Who Could Fly, was it?
Doesn't sound quite right, but it's the only one I can think of from that time period.
Flowers for Algernon? That was a book with a similar plot. I read the book in the 70's, can't remember when they made a movie.
::::::::waving:::::::::::::
The movie was made in 1968 called Charly which was written in crayon. Charly was a mantally retarded ten whp was chosen for experimental treatment. He becamse smart but at a high proce. The book is better. This movie did win an oscar. Ask Janice a question and she will answer.................snerk.
Janice - you are a flipping genius! I thought of Charlie as well, but wanted to be sure. So I googled. And because I was spelling it properly, could find no reference to it, was afraid that I was hallucinating, didn't dare to say.
Jeanie - I laughed so hard at Salina's 'minion' picture. Gees. She looks like Dash.
Am sitting up waiting for son. He's about two hours from home at this point.
Thank you very much Janice - it was indeed Charly! I googled it as that too, Debby, and that is when I went with the plea - I thought I was going nuts!
nomesquefiction - ha ha just saw blogger in action with the timezones here! Unfortunately my old school was even more out of date than I thought with the movies - it was 1968!!!
Keep this handy when you need to look up actors and movies:
www.IMDb.com
(internet movie data base) it had more info than you'll ever need.
Thanks for that Janice - and it would have worked wonderfully if I hadn't asked for Charlie!
I think it was Lorenzo's oil (after the boy). And if I remember correctly, it was either the mother or father who developed the treatment.
Is that the one you are thinking of?
