Such weeks give me the opportunity to do a little book work for my extended family. They reinforce V's delight of having me, my cooking and the joys of having a middle one in the house, because he does miss us (apparently).
They also give 'Salina the chance to be the oldest cousin and
'Salina also likes to take advantage of the circumstances and play her "can I sneak in to bed with you Mummy" card on such occasions.
I had a touch of insomnia that forced me out of bed at 2.52am, where I wrote the darned to do list and then tried to go back to sleep.
'Salina rolled over and said "I do not like it, Sam-I-am."
I snuggled up to her and nodded in agreement.

Huh. I woke up at 2:02. It is now 3:36. I finally gave up and came downstairs. I'm with 'Salina. I do not like it, Sam I am. If you want a wonderful couple of books which will make the adults laugh just as hard as the kids, see if you can find Judith Viorst's 'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.' Or 'Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich'.
lol
I'm sure I've mumbled that in my sleep!
ROFL!
Hee! My kids & I loved that book!
('Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.' )
Also The Big Purple Splot, and Harry Hates Shopping, and Hailstones & Halibut Bones. :-D Yeah - We just love books.
Oops! Was The Big Orange Splot, not purple!
LOL I've heard something along those lines from Feral Beast in the wee small hours, too ;)
Well I hope despite lists, insomnia and strange bedfellow chat you are enjoying it.
That book and "Hop on Pop" are our favorites.
What an appropriate comment in the wee hours! Love that book, too! Reading is SO GREAT! Love it when kids read--however being up because one can't sleep, that's a bummer. But, I have often opted to read rather than sleep--if the book is good enough!
Hope you're sleeping better--and not doing book reviews past bed time.
Quickly dropping in to say hi!
Thanks for all the comments folks. I love that book especially as it is the first one that 'Salina "got" and read it to her cousins for fun!
Oh - and by the way, Just-me-jen - over here, Alexander thinks things would be better in Timbuktu - I didn't even know the Aussie connection until I saw V's copy!
